Our range of experience covers a wide spectre of building types. We have concentrated our efforts on our strengths and that is to listen to our clients and design buildings that live up to their expectation.

We consider aesthetic values as important as building for function; we work with your brief to bring out the best in every design using sustainable and traditional materials where possible. We also keep abreast of modern materials and up to date technology that fits modern lifestyles. We are “eco” aware and can design houses that minimise energy consumption. Contemporary designs develop in the practice using our understanding and our depth of knowledge of historic buildings. If our clients have ideas we like to integrate them and if they are open to suggestions we like that too. Our skills lie in interpreting the brief and cultivating a style that suits you.

Julian Boswell, our senior architect partner, has a special interest in conservation architecture with a Master’s Degree in conservation from Bath University. He is sensitive to blending the old with the new and is particularly enjoys the challenge of restoring, refurbishing and extending older buildings. Modern architecture can sit very comfortably alongside traditional when the detail and the materials are well considered. Our rationale to bring lots of natural light into a building is borne through our desire to create spaces that are functional, bright and pleasurable.

As the chairman of the Southampton Design Review Panel and member of the Hampshire Architects panel, Julian is closely connected with current aspirations of various planning departments. He is involved with the Portsmouth School of Architecture, mentoring students and supervising workshops throughout the year and we offer work placements to RIBA Part II architectural students.
