John Glanfield & Partners is a specialist practice dealing with building solutions in a heritage context. Whether you wish to have the security of a thorough inspection, the assurance of a repair specification prepared with care, the facility of a new building or extension sympathetically designed for its context or advice on how to use your existing building to better advantage, we have someone to help you.

The firm of John Glanfield & Partners has been dealing with the sensitive inspection, repair and design of special buildings since 1919. In its formative years, as Riley & Glanfield, the practice built up its experience in Grays Inn before the next generation - son John Glanfield - opened a branch office in 1970 at Holywell Lodge in St.Albans, specifically to deal with churches and their related buildings. This became the main office in the early1980s.

Now, with the need to apply today’s technology and to cope with an expanding portfolio, the practice -with Bruno Hooker as its present Principal - has moved into its new, purpose-built main premises at Woolmer Green and also operates from a second base in south-west Bedfordshire to better serve the counties in the north and west of the region.

John Glanfield & Partners is one of the most experienced firms in the country dealing with listed historic structures and holds design awards for associated new work and conversions. Having churches, chapels and related buildings in its care throughout seven counties and with an ongoing portfolio of new halls and extensions, the firm has built up a working relationship with experts in related fields to offer a complete service for historic projects.
