Ahrends Burton and Koralek Architects has won many awards for design and technical excellence and has a wide range of experience in Ireland and worldwide.

The practice offers skills in architecture and related fields such as urban design and planning and has considerable experience in design for energy conservation, making extensive use of the most advanced technology at all stages of the design process.

We design and produce high quality projects to meet clients’ needs in all respects: functionally, visually, environmentally, technically; on time and on budget. We have a wide range of experience of many different building types, methods of construction and materials.

The practice uses a formal system of Quality Assurance procedures for all architectural services and has a dutiful regard for responsible environmental design. ABK maintains a cohesive organisation which has the flexibility to lead or be part of design teams appropriate for each contract.

The brief for the project is crucial. We aim to explore and develop this with our clients to ensure that design grows out of a shared understanding of the needs.

Each project is a response to a new and different situation which integrates the general and the particular into a coherent whole. Each design reflects the specific requirements and the unique conditions of the site and its location.

Our work involves social, environmental and technical concerns, a search for form which embodies attitudes and standards that are the cumulative product of shared thought and feeling and of the conviction that the quality of our surroundings cannot be dissociated from the quality of life. It encompasses all aspects of the built environment and is firmly based on the belief that buildings are for people.
